Peter Wealick, Electrician

Peter Wealick

Peter Wealick took his knowledge, skills and passion as an electrician and used them as the foundation to start his business Aboriginal Computer Solutions Ltd. He started his trades training at the Pacific Vocational Institute (now part of BCIT) and for 10 years worked as an electrician which included working as an apprentice. Today, Peter employs five people, all Aboriginal, helping them too to put their knowledge to work. He continues to maintain his union membership and license.

Bernie Phillips since high school wanted to be a teacher. Fulfilling this dream began with a job in the forest industry that came to an end through a worksite accident. This incident led Bernie to a job working for his Band building houses and then into training and apprenticeship. His knowledge and passion for teaching landed him a position with VanAsep as a Job Coach, and then today to his long dreamed job as a teacher with the T'zil Training Centre.

A job coach for VanAsep, Brandon Louie supports Aboriginal people to get into the carpentry trade while working directly with the CLAC Union BC (Christian Labour Association of Canada BC Chapter). In high school Brandon enjoyed carpentry courses, then after graduation he got a job through a friend with a construction company. He became an apprentice sponsored by his employer and recently completed certification as a Journeyperson with the support of VanAsep.
