Automotive Service Advisor

Apprentice registrations are not being accepted at this time.

NOTE: Automotive Service Advisor is currently in pilot delivery. Individuals who have been working in the Service Advisor sector and have a number of work hours in the field would be considered excellent candidates for the pilot project. The pilot delivery will involve level 2 and level 3 technical training. Selected applicants will be asked to write the level 1 ITA standardized examination and some will be asked to write the level 1 and 2 ITA standardized examination.

Description
Service Advisors are generally responsible for managing the daily workflow of a vehicle service facility by documenting customer service needs to enable the facility’s technicians to correctly service the customer’s vehicle. This trade is not limited to automotive; instead it is also prevalent in truck and machinery repair facilities as well as other service facilities within the motive power sector.

Duties include:

  • Advising and scheduling service appointments for customers
  • Identifying mechanical problems by questioning the customer’s request for service
  • Preparing work orders
  • Handling customer complaints
  • Estimating the cost of repairs

Certification Challenge Application
The Challenge Application Package for this trade will be developed once the pilot project is complete in June 2011. Over the next several months the ITA will be working with Industry Training Organizations and other Industry Partners to develop the Challenge Application Packages for this trade. You may email or telephone the ITA Customer Service Department and provide your name, mailing address, and the name of your Trade if you wish to be placed on a waiting list for this Challenge Package. An Application Package will be mailed to you as soon as it is available.
