Funeral Director

Description

"Funeral Director" means a person who negotiates or enters into funeral contracts, arranges, conducts or directs bereavement rites and ceremonies; arranges for the interment or cremation of human remains; transfers human remains or directs or supervises the transfer of human remains; and cares for or prepares human remains prior to disposition, other than the preservation or restoration of human remains.

(Note: The British Columbia Cremation, Interment and Funeral Services Act requires that an individual be licensed during their apprenticeship as a funeral director. The individual must also be enrolled in a funeral services program designated as a recognized program under the Industry Training Authority.)
