Trades—your path to success
A career in the trades could be your path to success. It can offer you well-paid work in which your skills are highly valued. In fact, the average wage of a tradesperson is double that of someone working in a retail job or other unskilled position.

Today, there is a trade for everyone’s abilities and interests, including yours.  Tradespeople work with their hands and their minds to meet the day’s challenges.  They work in a variety of settings—outdoors, on a construction site, in a workshop, a garage, a mine or a manufacturing plant.   They work in many different industries—film, aerospace, telecommunications, horticulture, homebuilding and more.  In fact, there are more than 140 trades in British Columbia, and the ITA Immigrants in Trades Training initiative can help you achieve success in the one that matches your interests and abilities.

Learning a trade is your chance to become an in-demand member of British Columbia’s dynamic workforce.  Tradespeople make a unique contribution to their community, and as a result, they enjoy respect, steady employment and a great pay cheque.
