Sign-off Authority Prior Experience
If you sponsor apprentices but have never been certified in Canada, you may request to supervise and sign-off apprentices when they are ready to be certified. Construction Craft Worker (Labourer) is a new Red Seal trade in BC, and therefore the current number of Construction Craft Workers holding a Certificate of Qualification with an Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement is insufficient to supervise apprentices. In order to ensure this situation doesn’t present a barrier to current and future apprentices wanting to complete the CCW program, an alternate model for granting supervision and sign-off authorization has been developed and will be available until December 31, 2020. Please see the documents below for details on eligibility requirements.
|Application Form||Personal information and exams scheduling information|
|Employer Declaration||Document of relevant work experience|
|Statutory Declaration||Attestation to self-employement/work experience when employer can't be contacted|
Note that Supervision and Sign-off Authority is not the same as trade certification. Supervision and Sign-off Authority registration numbers are issued solely for the purpose of enabling sponsors and/or tradespersons to direct and supervise the work-based training of apprentices and recommend apprentices for certification. If you would like to pursue certification in your trade you will be required to apply to challenge the exam and submit a Challenge Application package.
