Grants for Apprentices Registered in Red Seal Trades

Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG)

As a Red Seal Apprentice, you are eligible for an Apprenticeship Incentive Grant. It is a taxable cash grant of $1000 a year for the first two years of your training, up to a lifetime maximum of $2,000 per person. After that, you are eligible to apply for tax credits each year.

As an Apprentice in a non-Red-Seal program, you are eligible to apply for tax credits each year of your apprenticeship. Check out our info sheet and WorkBC to see additional information on financial supports.

WHO QUALIFIES HOW TO APPLY

Apprentices registered in Red Seal trades who have successfully completed a level of technical training and a portion of work based training hours.

Please refer to the AIG Requirements for your trade.

ITA will send you a Letter of Progression when you have met the requirement for technical training and work based training.

Use the information in your Letter of Progression to apply for your AIG from Service Canada.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG)

When you complete your Red Seal program, you can apply for the one-time taxable cash Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG) of $2,000 after you have been certified in your trade.

WHO QUALIFIES HOW TO APPLY

Certified Red Seal journey persons

ITA will send you a reminder notice when you qualify for the ACG.
