On July 25, 2014, ITA announced the introduction of ten Sector Advisory Groups (SAG) representing key trade sectors in BC. The new groups will be tasked with the role of advising government and ITA on industry-specific issues key to skills training in the province. The groups are to be initiated by industry, and populated by employers (including small and medium sized), contractors, aboriginal and labour representation.

SAG's will provide input to:
  • ITA on the most important and relevant sectoral training strategies to address labour market demand
  • Government on government collected data sets, assumptions, and general labour market forecasts
  • Government on actual labour market forecast numbers
  • Government on high-level policy issues

For more information, please read the Terms of Reference and Q&A. For general questions, please email SAG inquiries

This move is in response to the recently launched B.C.’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint as well as recommendations made in The Industry Training Authority and Trades Training in BC: Recalibrating for High Performance (McDonald Report).
