This event attracted a completely new audience, potential employers. Efforts were spent in personally inviting old, new, and some completely undecided employers to find out more about their high school ACE IT and SSA programs, as well as work experience opportunities. An experienced employer presented the benefits and realities of employing and mentoring youth from an employer’s perspective, trades students spoke about their experiences, and employers asked questions about the programs. Round tables included an opportunity to meet ACE IT and SSA students, learn about grants and tax credits from ITA, receive WorkSafeBC information, and ask questions of employers already involved. Several new connections were made, as employers were impressed with what students were learning in high school and saw the potential for employing youth.
