For more than 50 years, students have attended Okanagan College for Trades and Apprenticeship training. The College offers both Foundation and Apprenticeship training programs in over 20 trades. Additional training is offered through General Interest, Trades upgrading, Gateway to Trades and Women in Trades programming. The ITA funds Women in Trades Training programs with Okanagan College. See program description below.
Women in Trades Training Program
The Women in Trades Team provides eligible participants the opportunity to explore various trades through a 12 week Gateway to the Building Trades for Women program delivered across all 4 Okanagan College campuses. Participants also have the opportunity to ladder into Trades Foundation (technical training) programs.
Once a seat offer for a Trades Foundation program has been accepted, WITT participants must demonstrate their knowledge of the labour market and present opportunities for employment in their chosen trade to be considered for sponsorship. In demand trades are selected from over 12 Trades Foundation Programs. All participants will have access to aftercare support including Mentorship, Essential Skills, and Employment Readiness.
