A Parts Technician 2 is an organized and resourceful tradesperson who excels at maintaining a complex system for receiving and sorting parts and supplies. 

As a Parts Technician 2, you’ll enjoy using your systematic and dexterous skills to receive goods and sort incoming parts, supplies and materials.  

You’ll maintain shipping and receiving records, keeping account of the type, amount and location of a wide range of parts and supplies. You’ll have many industries to choose from, as you oversee the essential systems that keep our communities running.

Occupational Description

A "Parts Technician 2" is involved in ordering, warehousing, maintaining inventory control and sales of parts. They are responsible for identifying parts and equipment, searching for parts, shipping and receiving parts, providing customer service and advice, and maintaining records. 

A Parts Technician works in various industries such as automotive service, commercial transport, heavy duty equipment, small engine repair, aeronautics, agricultural equipment, marine equipment, the mining sector, and the forestry sector. The work environment for Parts Technicians is generally indoors in a warehouse and/or at a service counter. Some parts people may perform deliveries of parts to their customers. Parts Technicians generally work in teams that include retail service staff, sales staff, and service technicians.

You may find yourself inside a building or outside, working on a range of tasks that ensure the proper use of gas.

As an interim measure, SkilledTradesBC will recognize holders of Gasfitter Class A and Class B Certificate of Qualification issued by Technical Safety BC as being compliant with Skilled Trades Certification beginning December 1, 2023, and there is no further action required at this time.

We also continue to recognize Gasfitter Class A and Class B Certificate of Qualification or Apprenticeship issued by SkilledTradesBC or another Canadian jurisdiction, as well as Interprovincial Red Seal Certification in Gasfitter Class A and Class B.

Appliances and equipment include those that do not exceed 400,000 Btuh (British Thermal Units per hour) or 120 kW (kilowatts) such as boilers, burners, makeup air units, furnaces, process burners, and various other gas-fired equipment.

They are involved in the installation or alteration of any gas system, except vehicle fuel systems, under an appropriate permit. Class A Gasfitters can work on appliances and equipment that exceed 400,000 Btuh (British Thermal Units per hour) or 120 kW (kilowatts), such as boilers, burners, makeup air units, furnaces, process burners, and various other gas-fired equipment. 

Please note: to register for Gasfitter – Class A, a tradesperson must hold Gasfitter – Class B Certification.
