BC Construction Association (BCCA) represents approximately 2,000 construction companies in B.C., including general contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and allied services, primarily involved in the institutional, commercial, and industrial sectors.

BCCA-STEP (Skilled Trades Employment Program) for Women is a program geared towards matching trades employers with women who want to start a career in the trades. Programs are delivered through the BCCA's main regional offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Prince George, and Victoria, as well as through Trades Employment Specialists (TES) through-out the province.

Camosun College has provided the south Island region with relevant post-secondary education for almost 40 years, including career and trades training, upgrading and preparatory programs, university transfer and degree programs and continuing education. 

Camosun College offers a ‘Women in Trades’ exploratory program and a Sheet Metal/Metal Fabricator Foundation program for women interested in a career in the trades.

Okanagan College is a public, post-secondary educational institution offering a wide variety of career, continuing education, degree, developmental, trades and technologies, university transfer and vocational programs.

The “Gateway to the Building Trades” for Women program includes practical experience and theoretical knowledge in a wide variety of building trade sectors. Trades Foundation Training offers participants with direct entry into any trades foundation training program.

Thompson Rivers University’s (TRU's) School of Trades & Technology offers a number of trades training programs that result in provincial Industry Training Authority (ITA) or Red Seal Certification.

The “Women Exploring Trades” program includes introductory training and exposure to six different Red Seal Trade areas including: Electrical, Instrumentation Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Operator, Power Line Technician, Partsperson, and Piping. Upon completing the introductory program, Students demonstrating the aptitude and attitude of a trades person, have the opportunity to move into a trades foundation training program.

Tradeworks Training Society helps foster sustainable independence by providing job-related skills training, counseling, and work opportunities to women in Vancouver’s downtown eastside.

Tradework’s “Women’s Workshop” is a 10-week pre-employment program that introduces women to the world of carpentry and the skilled trades, as well as providing upgrading and Essential Skill support, job readiness training, and job placement assistance.

The UA Piping Industry College (UAPIC) is a private, not-for-profit trades training educational institution. UAPIC is dedicated to providing advanced and cost-effective trades training for individuals wishing to pursue a career in the piping trades, with state-of-the-art facilities and curriculum that keeps pace with the needs of the workplace.

UA Piping Industry College’s “Piping Opportunities for Women” provides exposure to Plumbing, Sprinklerfitting, Steamfitting, and Welding, and Introduction to Construction training for women interested in careers in the piping and construction trades. Foundation and Technical training are also offered.

Vancouver Island University is a comprehensive post-secondary institution with more than 14,000 students enrolled in academic, applied, career/technical, vocational, trades and developmental programs.
