Shipyard Labourers provide a variety of services in the shipbuilding and repair industry, including cleaning the yard, materials delivery, setting up for specified work on a vessel, preparing vessel surfaces, performing fire watch and hole watch duties, assisting in docking and undocking vessels and assisting other shipyard workers and trades as required.
The Challenge Pathway for Shipyard Labourer provides skilled workers with an alternative to the traditional route to certification. In addition to submitting an application, the pathway involves an ITA-registered assessor assessing the performance of the Challenger who must meet the Occupational Performance Standards set by industry. The Challenger receives an Occupational Certificate after demonstrating sufficient evidence of competency against these standards.
The Assessment Agency for the program is Camosun Coastal Centre (CCC). Please contact CCC on telephone number 778-265-5005 and by email on firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange your assessment. Note: there is a $400 assessment fee which is payable to CCC following approval of your application.
