Meet Your Advisor: Finbar O’Sullivan

Finbar O’Sullivan says the trades is an immensely rewarding career choice and filled of challenges. Apprentices should be proud of their trade and their skills.

Apprenticeship Advisors provide regional support to apprentices and employer sponsors. They help build knowledge and awareness of the B.C. apprenticeship system and provide guidance to apprentices and sponsors on processes and policies related to the apprenticeship journey and challenger pathway.

Here's a Q&A with Finbar O’Sullivan, Apprenticeship Advisor for Kelowna and the Interior.


What is your trades background/experience?

Red Seal auto tech.

How long have you been with ITA?

Almost 6 years.

What do you enjoy most about working at ITA?

Helping people and educating people about the trades.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Avid skier and outdoors enthusiast in general, love driving my Jeep in remote areas.  

What would you like people to know about the trades?

Trades is an immensely rewarding career choice and filled full of challenges—you won’t be bored! 

What advice would you give to people interested in becoming an apprentice? 

Make sure you build time into your career choice and commit to be certified. Once you have your ticket, its’ yours. I tell all apprentices to be proud of their trade and their skills.
